The City of Anaheim unveiled a new memorial to honor America’s servicemen for Armed Forces Day this morning. The dedication was brief but moving, as they raised the American flag presented to the family of a veteran who recently passed away. Joining it was the black-and-white POW flag. My family and I were reminded once more it isn’t the name on the back of a jersey, or in a credit on a movie screen that counts; it is the medals and ribbons proudly worn on the chest that matter.
